Weekend Update

We had a very nice weekend and finished the nursery! I was sick at the end of last week and still wasn't feeling 100% this weekend. Friday we had some friends over from church for dinner. They're an awesome couple that lives in our neighborhood. They have a son who's about 6 months old and SO ADORABLE! We're hoping he can be good friends with Baby Boy Bailey.

Saturday we had our last prenatal class in the morning. We spent the rest of the weekend working on the nursery. Well, Eric and my mom did most of the work to be honest. My mom refinished my childhood dresser and it looks AMAZING!!! She stripped it, sanded it, stained it, and finished it. We forgot to take before pictures but the transformation is absolutely amazing! Eric finished painting the room and assembled the crib and changing table. My mom and I hung the border and the room is done! Well, we still need to add a few basics in the room but the essentials are there. Oh yeah, my mom also hung the curtains in the room.

We all did so much work and the nursery really turned out great! I'll post pics after this weekend. I want to wait until after the baby shower to post pics so I don't spoil the fun for the ladies coming over who get to see it in person. The other thing I forgot to mention is that Saturday evening we observed Earth Hour. http://www.earthhour.org/about/ We had a candlelit dinner and played acey ducey in the candlelight as well. It was cool to be a part of something that can be so beneficial to our environment. If you didn't get a chance to participate, make your own Earth Hour and choose a night to turn out the lights. ... Some People...

Some people really just don't understand.

I have been struggling the past few weeks with the increasing amount of comments from people at work about how I look. The majority of the comments are along the lines of, "Wow, six more weeks??" or "Where are you going to put it?" or "You're already so big!" or "You're about to pop!" These comments only bother me because when you're pregnant apparently it's okay for anyone and everyone to comment on your size and weight with no regards to what you want.

Well today was the worst.

While walking in to work, the first person I pass in the hallway makes the comment, "Wow, you're getting fatter."

HOW RUDE!!! I didn't say a word, continued to my desk and then cried my eyes out. I just can't imagine ever telling a woman you're getting fatter. Let alone a pregnant, hormonal and emotional woman trying to make and carry a healthy baby. Some days it's just so hard to be around people that really don't have any filters and feel like they can say whatever they want.

I called Eric and my mom for support cause I was bawling at my desk like a baby. They're both so great at helping me see how stupid people can be and to not let it get to me.

I'm going to try and go on the rest of today and not think about how big I am even though I feel huge. Comments like that day in and day out really don't help. I feel like I've been healthy and look great and my doctors are happy with my progress and weight gain. But these complete strangers obviously think that they know better and feel that they must share their expertise in pregnancy weight gain each time I pass them. Grr!

Thanks, I just needed to vent a little... ... Full Post...

HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter! We had an awesome day and even got to watch some TV. We gave up TV and movies for Lent so it was nice to just relax on the couch and catch up on something truly missed.

We went to mass this morning with my mom and then headed over to Tita and Tito's house. Tito is doing so much better! Thank you to everyone for the prayers and support. The physical therapist came around the time we were leaving so I'm sure he's going to sleep well tonight.

After that we headed over to Joanna's house. YAY!! Joanna was in town! We got to see her Friday when we went to dinner and then to the Passion at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. To anyone looking for an absolutely amazing experience on Good Friday I highly recommend their version of the Passion. They sing the Passion and they have so many talented singers. We went last year and it's just amazing to watch their musical reading of the Passion.

Saturday we worked on the nursery and tonight we finished painting it! There's still quite a bit of work to be done before I want to post pictures. But it looks GREAT so far! Thank you so much to my mom and Joanna for helping us out with the work.

Overall we had a really great weekend and I loved spending such good time with Joanna. She'll be back in just a couple weeks which is so cool! Eric and I are off to the couch for some more TV and relaxing. Hope everyone had a HAPPY EASTER!

4-8 weeks to go...

Well, we're 33 1/2 weeks along and doing great! Baby Boy Bailey is getting so big and moving all the time. His heartbeat is loud and strong enough that Eric can hear it by simply pressing his ear to my stomach. (Although it's sometimes difficult to hear with all the noises my tummy makes.) It's fun for him to hear it this way since we've been using a Doppler to hear the heartbeat throughout the rest of the pregnancy. Every time Eric tries and puts his head on my stomach it never fails that he also gets kicked in the head. It's so funny cause it's like Baby Boy knows exactly where he is and kicks him right in the head. He definitely knows daddy already and reacts to Eric's touch and voice. It's so cool!

The baby dreams have started in full force. I dream about labor, delivery, Baby Boy, and countless other baby topics a couple times a week now. At least I'm still sleeping well! I usually only go to the bathroom once in the night and haven't been having much trouble falling back to sleep. One bad things is that my right ankle has started to swell a little toward the end of each day. It's not very noticeable but it's a little painful. It's been going away nicely though with just slight elevation while I sleep.

I still haven't had any real cravings. The one thing I have been REALLY wanting to do is go swimming. It's warm enough here but most of the pools haven't warmed up yet. Probably within the next couple of weeks it will be perfect for us to go for a dip. I can't wait!

Eric is starting to work on the nursery this weekend and has been doing great with taking care of me. He's going to be such a great daddy. He already nurtures our son so much and loves him. I love when he kisses my belly and Baby Boy kicks right after. It's going to be so much fun having our little family. We are really getting excited! We have taken almost all of our prenatal classes at the hospital. Our favorite class just ended and we're totally pumped with all the new knowledge and information that we received. We feel really prepared for labor and delivery. Eric is the best coach! Some of the classes we have taken are Pediatric Basic Life Support (we learned CPR and the Heimlich), Childbirth Prep (we got to watch the Miracle of Life in every form possible), Breastfeeding and Boot Camp for New Dads. The only class we have left is Baby Your Baby where we will learn more about caring for your baby and loving them. Very fun!

We got our stroller this week. Technically this is our third stroller. The other two are listed on Craig's List are we are trying to sell them. If you know anyone who's interested, let me know! One is an Eddie Bauer stroller and the other is a really nice jogging stroller. They are both gently used but in great condition and work perfectly! I guess that's all for now. I've written tons. I'll write more after the weekend and hopefully have an update on the nursery. Happy Easter!!
